Speech and Debate

Nothing prepared me more for the academic intensity of college than my experience as a speech and debate team member here at Perry. Speech and debate challenges high school students to explore the human experience through characters, interpret author's meaning through performance, and analyze complex arguments and ideas through respectful and productive debate. This activity is a must for any high school student, but especially for those at Perry who have access to a team with a record of excellence.
 

As a speech and debate coach this year, I will be assisting in practices and judging at tournaments. I look forward to having many in-depth conversations about politics and policy with students, while also encouraging them to explore their interests in the fields of research and communication.
